HUMAIRA CHOUDHURY

I am Humaira Choudhury. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology and a Post-graduate diploma in Molecular Diagnostics from India. I completed a Master’s degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine from the University of Milan. My research experience in Europe began in France, where I worked on the epigenetic regulation of LINE-1 in cancer models. Subsequently, I worked as a research fellow at the University of Milan, focusing on the molecular and immunological aspects of cardiovascular disease.

In 2026, I joined the SHIELD Doctoral Network as DC7 and am currently based at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

My project aims to develop biocompatible materials to prevent bacterial infections in cutaneous bioelectronic implants. Using diverse experimental models, I assess antibacterial performance, biocompatibility, and host responses, contributing to the development of safer, infection-resistant implant technologies.
